This way you can trust your inner compass again!

When you have little confidence in your intuition or have lost confidence, you can end up in a kind of freeze mode. (Re)learning to trust your intuition starts with making contact with yourself, your feelings and with small events.

Fast-paced society in search of tranquility

The more noise there is on your line, the less you recognize your intuition. Meditation, silence and reflection are very good ways to ensure less noise. Just think of the corona period. When I look at myself, my intuition was very strong then. Precisely because I had much more peace and therefore also space. I got up every morning with a meditation, followed by a half hour walk in nature. Well, if something works, that's it!

"I woke up every morning with a meditation, followed by a half hour walk in nature. Well, if anything works, that's it!"

Letting go of fear

Not trusting your intuition often comes from a feeling of fear. To gain insight into where that fear comes from, you can use the technique below. You ask yourself why questions until you get to the core and have an answer.

Sample questions:

  • Why don't I trust my intuition?

  • Why am I afraid to trust my intuition?

Then you continue to explore the question with a new why question, followed by an answer.

  • Answer: I'm afraid I don't feel it right.

  • Q: Why am I afraid of that?

  • Answer: that I would then make the wrong decision.

  • Question: Why is that bad?

  • Answer: That's actually not a problem at all, because I can always make a new decision!

Reconnect with your feelings

Trusting your intuition, as I described above, also involves trusting your feelings. Are you not in good contact with your feelings? For example, because you are often pleasing or because you take on a lot of energy from others? Then that is also something you can practice. By regularly checking in with yourself, meditating and going to the forest to ground yourself.

Listen to your body

Your body gives you signals when something is meant for you or not. For example, I get goosebumps all over my body when something is meant for me. When something is not meant for me, I feel nothing or an unpleasant feeling in my stomach. By learning what this is for you, you will more quickly pick up what your intuition, in this case your body, wants to tell you. For you, it can be a feeling of slight excitement or a knot in your stomach.

They are not immediately life changing decisions

When it comes to learning to trust your intuition, you don’t have to make life-changing decisions to prove something. It’s basically this: you were about to call a friend and she called you. You sensed that a friend was pregnant and knew whether it was a boy or a girl. Your intuition told you to go a specific place and there you met someone who taught you a valuable lesson. An even simpler example is, you

Recognize it!

Pay attention to coincidences, repetitions and synchronicities. We think it is in big events, so we do not recognize the small ones. That is where it starts. Keep track of when you had a certain feeling, trusted it and it turned out to be so. You can also do this the other way around. You did not trust your feeling. Later it turned out that if you had done this you would have been right. For example, I was once dating someone. Suddenly I literally saw 444 everywhere. Later I looked up what it meant and 444 stands for “alone”. This boy I was dating was not for me. In the end that was also the case.

"Suddenly I literally saw 444 everywhere. Later I looked up what it meant and 444 stands for “alone”. This guy I was dating wasn’t for me. It turned out that way."

If it works for others, it will work for you! You may begin to recognize and trust it.
